These kind of images are, by far, the most affecting for me. There is something about the worn and weathered look of a face that speaks of care and long suffering.

Truth be told, Angels in scripture are terrible beings. Though they have no sex as we understand it, they are masculine in nature and in all recorded accounts, terrible enough to scare even battle hardened soldiers and commanders of war.
The cherubim have among their ranks Gabriel, and Lucifer, and probably Michael. Having said all that, I like the sensibility and emotion conveyed by the modern interpretation of the Cherub. A kind of soft and childlike comfort, not meant for war but peace.

This one was more weathered than most, and the figure has a distinctly medieval look about the face and hair.

A close up of the photo posted on the 13th. My favorite of this figure.

This angel reminds me of what I would expect to appear before the empty tomb of Christ, proclaiming, "He is not here, He is risen as He said!".

I like the mournful expression on his face. In recent days his expression has been remeniscient of my moods. Wishing for something, hopes and desires unrequited.

Over the next few days, I will be posting a series of photos from a visit to Calvary Cemetery. These were all taken in the early morning. I think I prefer the light of early morning better than the evening golden hour, for some reason it seems softer and a little more silvery.
