but unlike Lore I adore Fall. By many lengths it is my favorite season, the crisp air and clear skies as the temperature drops and pulls the haze out of the sky and lets you see for miles. Many tout the rich vibrant colors, reds and oranges, earthy browns in great flourishes of classical elegance, a final bow before the desolation of winter. But for me, it is the smells and the cool touch of the wind on my face, and air that seems to have more oxygen in it than other times.I like culminations, the golden times. In stories,…

But its a strange I like. Mostly the style of her words makes me contemplative, and helps me get in touch with that emotional aspect of myself that is most creative. Its like she is thinking out loud, only in crisp well thought out sentences. It feels natural, and makes you feel like you are somehow best friends, though you’ve never met and have only actually conversed on two, perhaps three occasions.

I’ve been busy, and I’ve been negligent of certain responsibilities. I understand the need to converse regularly with you, those who stop by to see if anything has changed, but other things vie for my attention. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be motivated enough, efficient enough to do everything I desire. Hmph. Well, perhaps. My vacation a couple weeks ago, for those whom I have yet to speak to, was good. It was especially good to see cousins I hadn’t seen for 15 years or more. It was odd, not in a bad way, but strange because it happens…

Because of the ludicrous amounts of comment spam I get, I think my filter has become so restrictive that commenting has become almost impossible. I apologize and will look into a solution a soon as i can. I the mean time, feel free to comment via email via jason at walljm.com.

I hate noise. Well, most of the time. I hate color noise all the time. I’ve held off buying some of the professional noise filtering programs for a long time because I didn’t believe they were really worth it. But on a whim I downloaded the free trial version of Neat Image and gave it a try on some of the photos I shot for the Pendragon Movie that, due to low lighting conditions, were shot at 3200ISO. Very noisy. I was a little shocked at the results. The resulting image looks like it was shot at 200-400ISO. Very clean and…

After much waiting, and an even longer time saving, I finally received my new Canon 5D. Allow yourself a moment to get over the envy, I know I would.I’m still at work, and don’t have my lenses with me, so I’ll need to wait till I get home to test it out. Suffice it to say, I shall be posting prints from it soon. ;)

Four months ago, I did not anticipate how much I would miss Jon when he moved to Texas to work on his masters. Although I knew that I would miss not having him around, I wasn’t expecting how much being alone in my apartment would sap me of my creative energy. When work got very quiet for about eight weeks, I became so frustrated that I started looking around at other job opportunities and thinking seriously about doing something, anything, to break the monotony. I even considered getting a dog. ;)I have neglected this website.I had, in fact, neglected all…

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always disliked the WordPress templating structures. I’ve had some spare time over the last few weeks, so I decided to take some templating code I had worked on previously and port it to php.phptemplate is a simple, fast and flexible templating system that can be used in any php application. It provides a fast way to build templated code, and offers a way to clearly separate code from content.PHPTemplate has three main main files:Parser.php : the parsers job is to parse a string and return a tree. It is a php class and…

I’ve been reading a couple books that look into Saint Patrick’s mission to Ireland and its affect on Europe. These books led me to lookup some of the few writings penned by Patrick himself. These two quotes stood out. And he watched over me before I knew him, and before I learned sense or even distinguished between good and evil, and he protected me, and consoled me as a father would his son. For after chastisement from God, and recognizing him, our way to repay him is to exalt him and confess his wonders before every nation under heaven.

Dynamic Bible now lets you lookup multiple passages at once using the semi-colon to delimit the list of refs. For example, John 3:16; Romans 3:23 will now show both verses in the results pane. In addition, you can also remove a passage from the result set if want by clicking on the red X to the left of the passage.Clicking on results from a search now adds the verses to the results instead of replacing the previous result.Thoughts and comments, bug reports and feature requests are appreciated, just add them to the comments or email me at jason (at) walljm.com

Telling someone something, in some way alters the nature of the thing being told. This is especially true of personal hopes and dreams. Partially, the telling alters the fact by the way the person responds to the hearing. Hopes and dreams, like the smallest of particles, cannot be viewed without the viewing affecting them. You can only manage the change.

I was up in Michigan this past weekend helping with the Pendgragon Movie. I’d like to say more, and I may update this post later, but I wanted to refer you to Peter Serven’s post on the trip, replete with photos. I’ve been given permission to release some of the photographs I have taken on the two shoots I’ve been on, and hope to start doing that in the next few days. Til then, Peter’s site will need to do.

Update: Ok, so it turns out that Federal Taxes are pay-as-you go, which means they are due when you earn the income. Most employers do this for you. If you’re self employed, you can pay estimated taxes quarterly. But You can’t not pay until the end of the year. Bummer. This IRS article says a bit more on the subject.—-Ok, like most people I have my employer withhold taxes each year, and I usually get a small return. And I was thinking, because Jeremy is having to do his own withholding because he is currently freelancing, how much money am…

Well, I’m well and truly tired of driving now. I covered about 2000+ miles between Sat and Mon. The trip down to Dallas with Jon was pretty crazy, occasionally harrowing and for the most part very very long. ;)But I’m home now, and I’m in need of a roommate. Applicants can contact me via email. ;)Jon is unpacked and ready to start the spring semester at the University of Dallas. I have the whole apartment to myself. I think I shall throw a party, so expect invitations in the mail sometime soon.Addendum: Because it sounds confusing on a second reading,…

The holy blitz rolls on | Salon Books The Christian right is a "deeply anti-democratic movement" that gains force by exploiting Americans’ fears, argues Chris Hedges. Salon talks with the former New York Times reporter about his fearless new book, "American Fascists." By Michelle GoldbergI found the interview surprisingly insightful, (even if the interviewee’s personal theology occasionally gives rise to slight problems). I’m curious about my readers thoughts, because I tend to be more forgiving than some.If you miss it let me point out so you don’t the fact that the interview is speaking of a specific group of evangelicals…
