About

What do people call you?

Nicknames common to my experience include but are not limited to Jwall, Jase, and simply J.  I also go by Jason. :)

Jason, from the Greek, means “He who Heals”, and Michael from the Hebrew means “Who is like God?”. Translated etymologically into the Elvish language of Quenyan “Jason Michael” is “Envinyatar Manveru”.

When were you born?

I was born on March 23, 1978. On that day in history during a speech before the second Virginia Convention, Patrick Henry responds to the increasingly oppressive British rule over the American colonies by declaring, “I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!” Cool huh?

Whats this website about?

This website is a living document of who I am and was.  I keep records of my creative works, thoughts and things I find interesting online.  The content on this website goes back to 2001.  I’ve grown a lot since then, and you can tell from the maturity of the content. So keep in mind the dates as you read.

How do you view your work as an artist?

Art has always been about understanding for me.  Understanding how the world works, understanding myself, understanding meaning, beauty, and drama.  I practice poetry, and photography and use those disciplines to help deepen my understanding.

What do you believe?

I believe, like the apostles before me, in God, the Father Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. The third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, a holy church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. I believe in the innerrancy and completeness of scripture. And, I believe I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.
